Ink Grade is Howell Mountain's first estate winery, rooted in a historic vineyard first planted in the 1870s. Farmed organically and biodynamically across 800 rugged acres, the estate's iron-rich volcanic soils produce wines of remarkable purity and character. Winemaker Matt Taylor crafts elegant, single-estate wines that capture the unique expression of this mountain landscape and its storied legacy.
Andosol draws on historic California field blends and European winemaking principles, with the rugged mountain site imparting intensity and depth. The wine is a “polished and bold” expression of mountain terroir, designed for both early enjoyment and long-term cellaring.
An elegant and refined expression of the terroir, the 2019 Andosol carries aromas of black cherry, raspberry, black pepper, and a prominent note of violet. The palate is well-structured with bright acidity and integrated tannins, complemented by notes of pomegranate and hints of cedar leading to a long and beautiful finish.
Blend: 99% Zinfandel, 1% Merlot
