A deep knowledge of the soils and subsoils in Chablis allows J. Moreau & Fils to identify the shade and character in each terroir, to reveal all its richness and complexity with each new vintage. Faithful to its origins and culture, the house ages all of its wines with patience: a day in the cellar is as important as one day in the vineyards. The House J. Moreau & Fils has put its name to great Chablis wines since 1814.
Slightly set back from the Grands Crus vineyards, Montée de Tonnerre seems to be challenging the Climat right across from it, Blanchot. Its moderate slopes, exposed to the west, welcome the sun in the afternoon. The grapes ripen easily, especially since they are protected from the East winds. The shallow soil is underlain with Kimmeridgian marly limestone, and reveals veins of blue clay, which gives the wines both minerality and energy. Montée de Tonnerre covers approximately 42.5 hectares, including Chapelot, Côte de Bréchain and Pied d'Aloup.
Beautiful pale gold color. Elegant aromas of pineapple and white flowers. Fresh and silky on the palate, with a roasted
hazelnut finish.
